Going Dark ("We," "Us," or "Our") operates the Going Dark mobile application (the "Service"), also listed as "Going Dark: Hide One Score."
This Privacy Policy explains how We handle information when You use the Service and describes Your privacy rights under applicable laws including:
By using the Service, You agree to this Privacy Policy.
We do not require You to create an account.
We do not collect:
If You email Us, We receive the address You write from and whatever You include in the message.
The Service saves a few preferences on Your phone or tablet so they are still there the next time You open the app. That information stays on the device. We do not receive it, and We have no server that stores it.
On the device, the Service may save:
Hidden games do not include the score. Uninstalling the Service, or clearing its storage in system settings, deletes this information from the device.
To show live scores, the Service requests public scoreboard data from ESPN at site.api.espn.com. Your device sends that request directly. A request can include the league, a date, and, for college sports, a conference or division filter.
ESPN receives the IP address of the network You are using and ordinary connection details such as device and browser information that accompany an HTTPS request. We do not send ESPN Your name, email address, or the fact that You hid a particular game. ESPN's own privacy policy describes what ESPN does with information it receives.
We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services.
We do not use information for advertising, behavioral tracking, selling user data, or profiling.
If You are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland:
California residents have the right to:
We do not collect Personal Information through the Service. Preferences and hidden-game choices remain on Your device. We do not sell Personal Information, and We do not share Personal Information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Because scoreboard requests go from Your device to ESPN, ESPN may receive an IP address and related connection data. We do not receive that information back from ESPN.
To exercise a privacy right related to an email You sent Us, contact the address below. We cannot delete on-device app data remotely. You can remove it by clearing the Service's storage or uninstalling it.
The Service does not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) signals. We do not track You across other apps or websites.
We do not use third-party advertising networks or cross-app tracking technologies.
Information stored by the Service remains on Your device until You change it, clear the Service's storage, or uninstall the Service.
If You email Us, We keep the message long enough to respond and to keep a record of the request, then delete it when We no longer need it.
On-device information is protected by Your device's operating system. Scoreboard requests use HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
The Service is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children. If You believe a child has emailed Us, contact Us and We will delete that message.
Scoreboard requests are sent to ESPN, and email You send Us may be handled by email providers, in the United States or another country. Those providers' safeguards are described in their own privacy policies.
If You install the Service from Google Play or the Apple App Store, Google or Apple processes Your store account under that company's privacy policy. That processing is separate from the Service.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date will show the latest revision. The current version is always published at this page.
